WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Laura Gillen (D-NY-04), Delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds (R-MP-At Large), both members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA-07) introduced the Child Automobile Restraint Safety Education and Training (CAR SEAT) Act. This bipartisan bill would direct the Secretary of Transportation to launch an education campaign on the dangers of noncompliant and counterfeit child restraint systems, including car seats and booster seats. The bill would also allow states and localities to use federal highway safety funds for public information and education activities to help families identify and avoid such products.
