After New York State passed legislation to allow law enforcement and other personnel on Long Island  to carry and administer epinephrine auto-injectors, like EpiPens, in case of allergic reactions, Congresswoman Laura Gillen announced she and Congressman Andrew Garbarino would introduce legislation for a federally funded program to help equip law enforcement vehicles with EpiPens, among training efforts.

LYNBROOK, NY – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (D-NY-04) and Congressman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY-02) announced the introduction of H.R. 4019, known as “Gio’s Law”. This bipartisan legislation is being introduced in honor of Nassau County native Giovanni Cipriano, who passed away from a severe allergic reaction at age 14. Gio’s Law would establish a national Department of Justice (DOJ) grant program that provides access to and training on epinephrine products for law enforcement officers.
