Standing With Law Enforcement

LYNBROOK, NY – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (D-NY-04) and Congressman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY-02) announced the introduction of H.R. 4019, known as “Gio’s Law”. This bipartisan legislation is being introduced in honor of Nassau County native Giovanni Cipriano, who passed away from a severe allergic reaction at age 14. Gio’s Law would establish a national Department of Justice (DOJ) grant program that provides access to and training on epinephrine products for law enforcement officers.

Gillen, a Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, is the Democratic co-lead of the bipartisan legislation, which strengthens maritime law enforcement by enabling the US Coast Guard to respond to opioid overdoses. The legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration:
