Gillen Joins Bipartisan Working Group with Law Enforcement Leaders
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of National Police Week, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04), a member of the Law Enforcement Caucus, joined Congressman John Rutherford (FL-05) and a bipartisan group of lawmakers for the Bipartisan Working Group’s meeting with representatives from the National Association of Police Organizations, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the Major Counties Sheriffs Association, and the Major Cities Chiefs Association.
“Every day, our law enforcement officers put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities and loved ones safe,” said Rep. Gillen. “We must ensure they have the proper training and necessary resources to carry out their duties safely. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support law enforcement and ensure that local agencies in Nassau County have the tools they need to keep Long Islanders safe.”
Rep. Gillen has been a strong advocate for law enforcement, co-sponsoring key legislation such as the Protect and Serve Act, Invest to Protect Act, and the HERO Act, which aims to improve the detection, prevention, and treatment of mental health issues among public safety officers. |
