April 18, 2025

GARDEN CITY, NY – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) highlighted the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Request period and urged local governments and certain non-profits to visit her Appropriations portal:

“The Community Project Funding program gives our communities, law enforcement and first responders, and local governments a direct line to federal funding through targeted investments in our district,” said Rep. Gillen. “This process allows me to advocate for Nassau County and secure funding to strengthen our infrastructure, keep our communities safe, and improve the lives of my constituents. As your Representative in Congress, I am committed to working with our towns, villages, police and fire departments and local leaders and officials at every level of government here in Nassau County to secure federal funding and bring resources back to Long Island to benefit our communities.”

Community Project Funding allows Members of Congress to submit direct funding requests to the Appropriations Committee for consideration during the annual appropriations process. Congresswoman Gillen is permitted to submit 15 projects for consideration during FY26 Appropriations. The office of Congresswoman Gillen cannot guarantee your project will receive funding or be fully funded.

Applicants should be prepared to submit detailed technical information about their project and demonstrate strong community support. Some additional criteria for consideration include:

  • Federal Nexus: All projects must be eligible under an existing federal authorization law.
  • Merit and Community Support: Demonstrated support from the community is critical for a competitive application. Letters from community leaders, articles, and public documentation will strengthen requests.
  • One-Year Funding: Projects must be funded entirely within FY26.
