WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) released the following statement after meeting with the Neutra family and other family members of Americans held hostage by Hamas following the October 7th attack on Israel during a bipartisan roundtable held by the House Foreign Affairs Committee:

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) delivered remarks on the House Floor on H.R. 999, the Right to Contraception Act. Gillen is a co-sponsor of the bill, which was recently re-introduced for the 119th Congress. Below is a video of her full speech and a copy of her remarks as prepared for delivery:

“We strongly urge you to include a full repeal of the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap in any tax-related legislation brought to the House floor,” the Members wrote to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith.  

“The scenes we’ve seen from our schools and college campuses since October 7th, including Columbia and Cooper Union, have been shocking and unacceptable. Students should never feel unsafe simply because of their faith. Congress must do more to root out antisemitism and protect Jewish students from the targeted harassment and bigotry that has become all too common. I’m proud to join Rep. Mike Lawler and Rep. Josh Gottheimer in reintroducing the bipartisan Antisemitism Awareness Act.”

“Violent criminals with no legal right to be here should be deported in accordance with the law. Nassau County PD detectives now being able to work directly with ICE agents on targeted enforcement against known noncitizen criminals will help keep Long Islanders safe."

“9/11 forever changed America – thousands of innocent Americans, including 349 Nassau County residents, were murdered in a heinous act of terror. I’m proud to have helped lead this bipartisan legislation to fund the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and ensure that we never forget those lost that awful day.
