Congresswoman Laura Gillen joined village officials in Rockville Centre on March 11 to announce more than $1 million in new federal law enforcement funding to install high-grade police security cameras throughout the village.

The cameras are intended to help prevent and solve crimes by expanding surveillance capabilities for the Rockville Centre Police Department.

The Lakeview Public Library, located at 1120 Woodfield Rd., will expand the programming and services that it offers to the community after Rep. Laura Gillen secured $850,000 in federal funding to renovate the building’s third floor.

The financial support is part of $13 million in Community Project Funding Gillen has earmarked for Nassau County to invest in community infrastructure, enhance public safety, support local law enforcement and first responders, and improve the quality of life for residents.

This bipartisan bill would direct the Secretary of Transportation to launch an education campaign on the dangers of noncompliant and counterfeit child restraint systems, including car seats and booster seats. The bill would also allow states and localities to use federal highway safety funds for public information and education activities to help families identify and avoid such products.
