Gillen Visits Coast Guard Station Jones Beach

WANTAGH, NY - This week, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04), a Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, visited U.S. Coast Guard Station Jones Beach. During her visit, Gillen spoke with the Coast Guardsmen about the vital Search and Rescue (SAR) operations carried out by USCG Sector Long Island and expressed support for increased federal funding to aid Long Island’s Coast Guard operations.
“Many Long Islanders spend their summers boating and enjoying other water activities made possible thanks to our Coast Guard,” said Rep. Gillen. “The brave Coast Guardsmen stationed at Jones Beach play an indispensable role in ensuring Long Island’s maritime safety. We need to ensure they have all the resources necessary to keep our shores safe and our communities secure.”
In the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Gillen co-sponsored and helped pass H.R. 2351, key legislation that enables the Coast Guard to counter the illicit flow of fentanyl and stop drug trafficking.
