“I am delighted to deliver $938,000 in Community Project Funding to the Bellerose Village Fire Department to replace their current fleet of fire trucks. Bellerose Village’s fire trucks are some of the oldest in active service across Nassau County and in recent years, mechanical issues have frequently rendered them unable to reliably respond to emergencies,” said Congresswoman Laura Gillen. “Bellerose’s volunteer firefighters represent the best of Long Island: every day, they volunteer their time and put their lives on the line to serve their neighbors and their community. I am proud to deliver this critical funding that will help Bellerose FD keep our community safe.”
“This is great news for Bellerose Village residents and the Bellerose Village Fire Department," said Mayor Kenneth Moore. “To deliver public safety, both for residents and our volunteer firefighters, we need our fire trucks to operate effectively and efficiently. I want to thank Congresswoman Gillen for her work in securing this grant.”
“Congresswoman Gillen understood the critical need we faced, ” said Bellerose Village Fire Department Chief Raul Sanchez. “As a volunteer department, securing $938,000 dollars for a capital purchase of this magnitude is a challenge that often requires years of fundraising and tax assessments. This grant relives that immense burden and ensures that our volunteers will have the absolute best equipment available to protect our neighbors. On behalf of every member of the Bellerose Fire Department, and all the families we serve, I want to formally thank Congresswoman Laura Gillen for her leadership, her commitment to our community, and for making getting a new firetruck a reality."
This funding was allocated through the FY26 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Related Agencies Appropriations bill in Division B of the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2026 (P.L. 119-37).
