SEAFORD, NY —  On Friday, February 13, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) met with students and teachers from Seaford Manor Elementary School to collect homemade cards as part of her annual Valentines for Veterans initiative. This program encourages students and community members to create handmade cards for local veterans across Nassau County.

"Valentines for Veterans is a wonderful tradition that honors the over 30,000 veterans in Nassau County,” said Rep. Gillen. “Our veterans risked their lives in service to our country and we can never fully repay them for their sacrifices. But through simple acts of kindness like these cards, we can show our appreciation, remind them that their service is never forgotten and teach our children the importance of honoring those who defended our freedoms.”

Nassau County is home to more than 30,000 veterans and since taking office, Rep. Gillen has been a tireless advocate for bipartisan solutions that support those who have served our country. She has co-sponsored nearly 30 bipartisan bills in Congress to help strengthen veterans’ mental health care, disability compensation, VA benefits and medical research.
