Rep. Gillen Honors NYPD Officer Who Heroically Saved Infant’s Life in Elmont
GARDEN CITY, NY – Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) met with New York Police Department (NYPD) Officer and Elmont resident Freddy Cerpa to present him with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition for his heroic actions in saving the life of a choking infant while off duty.
“Officer Freddy Cerpa is a hometown hero from Elmont. When a neighbor rushed to his home with her unresponsive infant, he immediately sprang into action,” said Congresswoman Gillen. “Though he was off duty, his instinct to serve immediately took over. He administered life-saving aid and the infant began to breathe again. His swift response and decisive action saved an innocent child’s life. I was delighted to present Officer Cerpa with a Congressional Certificate in recognition of his bravery and selfless service. Officer Cerpa represents the best of Long Island and his heroism reminds us of our law enforcement’s relentless commitment to protect and serve.”
