Rep. Gillen Announces FY27 Community Project Funding Request Portal is Now Open; Urges NY-04 Local Governments and Leaders to Apply for Federal Funding Before Deadline
GARDEN CITY, NY – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) announced the Fiscal Year 2027 Community Project Funding request application portal is now open and urged local leaders to apply by Friday, March 6, 2026.
“Community Project Funding provides our communities and local governments with a direct pathway to bring more federal resources back home from Washington to make targeted investments in our district,” said Rep. Gillen. “Through this process, I am able to advocate and deliver for Nassau County by securing critical funding to upgrade our infrastructure, enhance public safety, support our local law enforcement and first responders and improve the quality of life for residents across Nassau County.”
Community Project Funding allows Members of Congress to submit direct funding requests to the Appropriations Committee for consideration during the annual appropriations process. In Fiscal Year 2026, Rep. Gillen helped secure more than $13 million in federal funding for community projects throughout Nassau County. Congresswoman Gillen is permitted to submit 20 projects for consideration during FY27 Appropriations. The Office of Congresswoman Gillen cannot guarantee your project will receive funding or be fully funded.
Applicants should be prepared to submit detailed technical information about their project and demonstrate strong community support. Additional criteria for consideration include:
- Federal Nexus: All projects must be eligible under an existing federal authorization law.
- Merit and Community Support: Demonstrated support from the community is critical for a competitive application. Letters from community leaders, articles, and public documentation will strengthen requests.
Applicants may submit their request forms here. Applications are due by 5 PM EST on Friday, March 6, 2026.
