Gillen Visits Wantagh American Legion Post 1273; Shows Support for Long Island’s Veterans

WANTAGH, NY – On March 18, 2025, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) joined members of American Legion Post 1273 at their monthly meeting to thank local veterans for their service and discuss her ongoing work to ensure that Long Island’s veterans have access to the care, resources, and benefits that they have earned through their service to our country. Rep. Gillen has been a vocal advocate for NY-04’s 18,000 veterans in Congress, co-sponsoring the bipartisan Seniors at the VA Act and the Protect Veterans Jobs Act.
“One of my most sacred responsibilities as a Member of Congress is ensuring that we fulfill our obligations to our veterans. I’m proud to work with both parties to ensure that Long Island’s veterans receive the care and resources they deserve,” said Rep. Gillen. “That means pushing back against cuts that would harm services at the Northport VA and continuing our partnership with the Tunnels to Towers Foundation to develop veterans’ housing in Island Park. Thank you to Legion Post 1273 for hosting me at their monthly meeting and their service to our country. I’m grateful for the opportunity to fight for Long Island’s veterans in Congress.”
“On behalf of Wantagh American Legion Post 1273, I want to thank our Congresswoman for taking the time to meet with us and discuss her understanding and her stance on issues facing our members, both as citizens and veterans,” said Wantagh American Legion Post 1273 Vice Commander John Sottnik. “We appreciate her dedication to working civilly on bipartisan issues, such as being tough on crime and VA funding to better the lives of her constituents.”
