WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) released the following statement after H.R. 835, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum Act, passed the House by a strong bipartisan vote. Gillen was an original co-sponsor of the legislation:

“9/11 forever changed America – thousands of innocent Americans, including 349 Nassau County residents, were murdered in a heinous act of terror. I’m proud to have helped lead this bipartisan legislation to fund the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and ensure that we never forget those lost that awful day.

“We cannot forget the survivors and heroic first responders, including 7,000 of my constituents, who are still suffering from 9/11-related health impacts. Congress must do its duty and secure permanent funding for the World Trade Center Health Program.”
