Gillen-Backed Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act of 2025 Passes House
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) released the following statement after the House passed H.R.2643, the bipartisan Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act of 2025. This legislation would require the Secretary of State to submit an annual report to Congress regarding the ties between criminal gangs and political and economic elites in Haiti and impose sanctions on elites involved in such criminal activities:
“Long Island is home to thousands of Haitian Americans who are desperately worried about loved ones back home,” said Rep. Gillen. “They want safety, security and stability for their families and for all Haitians. This bill takes critical steps to hold criminals and political elites accountable for the ongoing political unrest and horrific gang violence that is currently plaguing Haiti. This bill would help create the conditions for Haiti to begin rebuilding its democracy and protect U.S. national security interests.”
