GARDEN CITY, NY –  Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) announced that the 2025 Congressional Art Competition is officially open for all high school students who live in New York’s Fourth Congressional District. The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide contest that highlights talented young artists from high schools across the country.

“I’m pleased to announce that this year’s Congressional Art Competition is officially open for submissions. It’s a great opportunity for young artists to showcase their creativity and unique perspectives,” said Rep. Gillen. “I can’t wait to see the incredible talent our students bring to this year’s competition!”

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition, with over 650,000 students participating since 1982. Congressional offices host local competitions, and a panel of district artists select the winners. The winning artwork is displayed for 11 months in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol, viewed by millions annually. Winners are recognized in their district and at an awards ceremony in D.C.

The Congressional Art Competition is now open, and all art must be submitted by April 25, 2025. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and will receive a Congressional Recognition, have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., and be featured on the Congressional Art Competition website for one year. Winning students will also be invited to an awards ceremony on Capitol Hill, to be announced later.
